1. Stress Relief
Aqua Yoga is a fun and effective way to relieve stress. Coordinating your movement with your breath has been proven to reduce stress and boost mental health. A relaxed body means a relaxed mind.
2. Water Therapy
Being near, on or in the water has a timeless therapeutic effect. Whether it's listening to the sound of the waves crash upon the shore, a warm soak in the bath or a group Aqua Yoga class, you can be sure the water will be soothing your body and mind on a subconscious level.
3. Social Interaction
Loneliness and isolation can be a cause of stress, anxiety and depression. It is estimated 1 in 6 people in the UK suffer from depression. Group exercise classes such as Aqua Yoga can be a great way to meet new people to share a new experience and enjoy a hobby together. Being active can also help to release negativity and tension.
4. Being Present
In an Aqua Flow Yoga class we practise synchronising our movement with the breath and breathing awareness. Each time our mind wonders we gently bring our attention back to the breath. This technique allows for a deeper level of awareness.
Practising mindfulness or focusing on simply being in the present moment without labels or judgement can help you to relax the body and mind and reduce stress. If you ever get to practise Aqua Yoga Yoga, take a moment to notice how you feel before, during and after a class.
5. The Colour Blue
Abundant in nature, blue is a serene colour that conjures up images of the limitless sky or tropical lakes and vast oceans. It is thought that colours can affect our mood and behaviours. Blue is the colour of calm and mental wellbeing.
