Does Water Really Have Feelings?

Japanese Dr Masaru Emoto said that water is a "blueprint for our reality". Emoto believed that our emotions could actually change the physical structure of water.

Yes you heard right, the power of our thoughts and feelings can change the molecular structure of crystalline water.

Emoto conducted a number of experiments to show how we can affect the structure of water, suggesting that water has consciousness. These experiments included exposing a glass of water to different music, words and pictures with a positive or negative message such as 'love' or 'hate'. The water once frozen would produce different crystalline structures of which photographs were taken to compare the different frozen ice crystals.

It was found that the water which received positive messages would produce beautiful symmetrical ice crystal formations and you guessed it, the water which received negative messages would produce distorted and random ice crystals.

Pseudoscience or real? The scientific community have highly criticised Dr Emoto's claims. However, many people have conducted experiments at home and found interesting results. For anyone unfamiliar with this experiment, cooked rice is divided in to two separate jars. One jar labeled 'love' and the other 'hate'. Daily either loving or hateful feelings and comments are projected on to the rice jars. After a few days/weeks there is a noticeable difference between the smell, texture and appearance of the two rice jars. The jar with the negative message noticeably more fermented and mouldy, suggesting water as a powerful conductor of intention.

Here you can see a video of some of the results from a recreation of Dr Emoto's rice experiment....

So what do these finding imply? As our bodies are mainly made up of water, what can thoughts and words do to us? If true, positive or negative self-talk or our general outlook on life could literally affect our health and physical well being.

Let's consider this experiment as a reminder to send gratitude and loving intention throughout our day x
